Modern Slavery Statement for Storage New Addington
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Storage New Addington to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to respect human rights and to take robust steps to identify, prevent, and address any form of exploitation connected to our business activities.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage New Addington has a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour. We do not tolerate any practice that is inconsistent with the protection of basic human rights, whether within our own operations or among our suppliers and business partners.
All staff, contractors, and suppliers are expected to act with integrity and in line with our policies. Any breach or suspected breach of our zero-tolerance stance is treated as a serious matter and may result in termination of contracts or other appropriate remedial action.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Storage New Addington provides storage and related services to a range of customers. Our supply chain includes providers of building maintenance, security, cleaning, equipment, utilities, and professional services. We recognise that modern slavery risks can exist at various levels of these supply chains and we are committed to understanding and managing these risks proactively.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We expect all suppliers to operate in a manner that is consistent with our zero-tolerance policy on modern slavery. As part of our supplier onboarding and review processes, we seek confirmation that suppliers comply with relevant labour, employment, and human rights laws in the countries in which they operate.
Where appropriate, suppliers are required to confirm that they do not use forced, bonded, or involuntary labour, that they do not tolerate human trafficking in any form, and that they have their own measures in place to prevent modern slavery within their operations and supply chains.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Storage New Addington undertakes proportionate checks and audits of selected suppliers, based on a risk-based assessment that considers factors such as sector, location, and the nature of goods or services provided. These audits may include requests for evidence of labour practices, policies, and training, as well as site visits where relevant and feasible.
If a supplier is found to be in breach of our standards, we will work with them to develop a corrective action plan with clear timescales. Where a supplier is unwilling or unable to address concerns to our satisfaction, we reserve the right to review, suspend, or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Storage New Addington encourages all employees, contractors, and third parties to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or human trafficking at the earliest opportunity. Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels, including speaking to a line manager or senior manager, or escalating the issue directly to the management team.
All reports are taken seriously and handled sensitively. We are committed to ensuring that no individual who raises a concern in good faith will suffer any form of retaliation or detriment as a result of speaking up. Where appropriate, reported concerns will be investigated and, if necessary, reported to relevant authorities.
Training and Awareness
We recognise that raising awareness is an important part of preventing modern slavery. Relevant staff are provided with information on how to identify potential indicators of exploitation and the steps to take if they have concerns. We aim to embed respect for human rights within our culture and day-to-day decision making.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Storage New Addington is committed to continually improving its approach to tackling modern slavery. We regularly review our policies, risk assessments, and due diligence processes to ensure they remain effective and in line with best practice and legal requirements.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis, or more frequently if required by changes in legislation or our business activities. The review will consider the effectiveness of our actions over the previous year and identify opportunities for further improvement in preventing modern slavery within our operations and supply chains.
This statement has been approved by the management of Storage New Addington, who accept overall responsibility for its implementation and ongoing review.
